It took about nine hours but this video shows it in less than 3 minutes.

This is a home in Western Ann Arbor Michigan and the roof is scheduled to be replaced this summer so the mason didn’t use roof protection like he normally would have. (The chimney was done before the roof to make sure that the new roof didn’t get damaged.)

Cure Your Own Back Pain is a PDF eBook that shows you how to rid yourself of chronic pain in the lower back in a matter of a few days. It was written by a regular guy who was forced to get rid of his own back pain because nobody else could do it.

It covers the probable cause of your back pain, most likely bad posture, and explains the correct way to maintain good posture in a unique way. It’s not about standing or sitting up straight, it is about holding your spine with the proper natural curvature no matter what position you might be in.

It proceeds to outline the treatment program, which is four phases lasting three days each. After each phase, you take two days off so your back can heal.

Phase One is a simple extension exercise (for lack of a better word) that will take less than a minute to complete. It is done three times a day.

In Phase Two you add another exercise that is done just as quickly.

Phase Three involve mild inversion. If you don’t have an inversion table he suggests a board on a cinder block for the proper angle.

Phase Four adds a strengthening exercise to be done separate from the other exercises and should prove to be final step on the road to back pain freedom. From then on you will enjoy the benefits of taking care of yourself.

If you are ready to take charge of your own back problems they can be relieved with consistent application of the treatment you will find in Cure Your Own Back Pain.

The book is simple to read and the treatment is fast and easy to do. But the biggest question is does it work.

The Answer is Yes. Learn more today.

decided that he'd just throw a cinder block through a liquor store window, grab some booze, and run. So he lifted the cinder block and heaved it over his head at the window. The cinder block bounced back and hit the would-be thief on …

When we reached Cahuita, it was near-black, but there was still enough glow in the sky to see that our hotel, a whitewashed, two-story cinder-block rectangle, was broken. It sat askew, the interior laid bare by jagged cracks. …

There is a trend lately to find unique and affordable housing and many have turned to converting a barn into a home. In my area of East Tennessee, there are some fine examples of this including the one I converted.

It’s needless to say that there are many barns in various shapes and sizes all around. A vast majority are in bad shape. Please don’t make the mistake of buying one that is labeled a unique fixer upper opportunity. Don’t fool yourself. If a barn has gotten into the shape where the siding boards are starting to fall off, unless you’re buying it for parts, my suggestion is to leave it alone. By the time the boards start falling off the sides, there’s major flaws. The main trouble would probably be that the horizontal beams are rotting and the fasteners are turning loose.

The best candidate for remodeling would be one that was painted on the exterior walls and roof. This means that it was at least maintained to a certain degree by it’s owners over the years. If your barn has some age on it, it would probably be best to first find all the areas that have been effected by weather or urine from the livestock that was kept in that barn. Animal urine sometimes has a high acid content and anything that has been contaminated with it really needs to be removed from the structure.

Look especially in the loft areas where hay may have been stored close to the outside walls. Chances are there may have been some rain water that had soaked in through the hay bales. This is where you will find most of any rotting of the floor boards. Take a look at the underside of the roof. If you see pinholes and sunlight coming through, water can also seep in. You’ll either have to replace the tin roofing where you find these holes or dab the holes with a tar patch and then coat the roof with a fibered aluminum paint.

Inspect the interior walls and see what types of columns are used in your barn. 99% of all barns in the US are post and beam construction. If your posts are buried in the ground, check and see if there is any type of rotting. Older barns will probably not have pressure treated wood in their construction. If your barn is built with a wide open floor area, you are most certainly going to have to build masonry piers inside to support your floors and walls and also find a way to tie the existing walls into the new support system.

Check to see that the horizontal beams are not loose or if there is rotting between them and the columns. Look at the top plates for rot from water damage. If your columns are mounted on a rock or cinder block, check the bottoms of the columns for rotting.

Consult your local building inspector to make sure you can get the proper permits if needed. In my part of the country, building permits for remodeling are not required if you are in the county but your local codes may be different. It would be a shame to buy the barn only to find the powers that be will not grant the necessary permissions.

When I first began my project, all I had to work with was the old, empty barn. Being an old structure it was necessary to examine the entire building to make sure there wasn’t any type of structural flaws. Thank goodness there was only one place that had to be bolstered. The inside front left corner was starting to slide off it’s foundation stone. I solved that problem by hooking the column to my tractor and winching it back into place with a come-along. Then I built a buttress beside the column to keep it from moving again.

Today the flat screen TV is very popular among consumers. It is easy to see why these modern TVs are such a hit with viewers all over the world. They are much lighter in weight, they offer a true HDTV high resolution picture, and they take up much less space than the old CRT TVs of years gone by.

Because of the greatly decreased space requirements and much lighter weight many people today are finding it better just to do a wall mount flat screen installation.

Flat panel wall mounted units offer several advantages over setting them on conventional type TV floor stands.

1 – A wall mounted flat screen TV looks very modern and stylish and can really add to the decor of a room.

2 – Flat panel wall TV mounts will free up some valuable floor space and give your room a less cluttered look.

3 – Flat panel wall mounts with full viewing adjustments will allow for great viewing from anywhere in your room.

4 – The wall unit will get your flat screen above the floor and out of the reach of small children.

In most homes the wall mounting hardware will be secured to the hidden wood studs behind your wall exterior. You will need a stud finder to locate these studs. You must also be able to determine where any hidden water pipes or electrical wires are running behind your wall so that you do not puncture them with your mounting hardware. If you are in doubt please consult a professional first before you start.

A smaller percentage of homes will need to have the wall bracket hardware secured to concrete, cinder block or brick walls. This will require special wall anchors, but this hardware is usually included with most wall mount hardware kits supplied with the mount.

For many decades designers have been looking to Frank Lloyd Wright for design inspiration. The principles underlying his approach to design can be applied to anything that calls for fine aesthetic quality. If you have an outdoor area that you would like to make more comfortable and attractive, the approach taken and structures created by Wright might be worth investigating. The Dana-Thomas House in Springfield, Illinois, Fallingwater in Bear Run, Pennsylvania, and his many other architectural works scattered across the United States still inspire, with principles that scaffold these artifices are definitely worth importing to a project, whether you are creating a humble garden spot, a poolside lounging area or an extensive outdoor “living room.” Anyone can benefit from emulating the emphasis on “quality of place” found in the works of Wright.

If you’ve been to a garden party or backyard barbeque and felt unsettled or uncomfortable despite great folks and wonderful fare, the reason may have been a lack of certain design principles. These are elements only obvious when they are lacking: It is much more likely that we notice disorder than order, that we pay attention to what is out of place or jarring than to the regular, reliable consistency of a display or space.

Frank Lloyd Wright is known for “organic” architectural design: This was new with the architect and features a pronounced organic relationship between a building site/exterior space and the edifice it surrounds. Materials (stone, metal, wood, concrete, cinder block) applied to the exterior of a Wright home and in the landscaping were deliberately connected though use of similar materials and forms. Throughout the home, down to the finest details – furniture, lighting fixtures, carpet patterns, fabrics, etc. – organic forms, textures and tones were repeated. What Wright did with his approach to repeating forms and connecting interior and exterior spaces with his organic architecture, many have done, though in various ways.

From ancient times (witness the Parthenon and cave drawings) humans have embraced the soothing, reassuring effect of pattern and repetition, and anyone can implement this approach when designing an outdoor area. You don’t need to be a world-famous architect or even a professional interior designer.

It begins with taking notice of what organic elements are natural to your area. Is it a wooded, desert or mountainous area? Does the patio or garden abut a brick home or a log cabin? What predominant shapes and lines meet the eye from the vantage point of the outdoor area in question? You can repeat and mimic line, color, texture and more.

Line: Is there a handsome fence or gate with a dominant arching or multi-linear pattern? Is this a hilly or mountainous area with peaks or curves in view? Remember that horizontal lines are the most soothing, while vertical and diagonal lines create tension or excitement. You can reference your observations about line when you select lounge chair cushions, patio furniture, a patio umbrella style, planters, and brick or tile work.

Color: This element extends to tone and is often the most noticed, so it makes sense to keep a tight palette. Frank Lloyd Wright’s early Prairie homes were built of stucco and brick, so the colors chosen for interior applications were typically warm, autumn shades of green, red, yellow and brown. Limiting the number of colors and repeating their use throughout a structure brings unity and harmony. This approach is ideal for an outdoor living area where relaxation is the goal. Consider the tones that work with the natural surroundings and the home itself and choose just a few to repeat in all decorative elements.

Texture: Innovation with texture is a signature Wright technique. For example, Wright’s Ennis-Brown house located in California was built with textured blocks made of concrete to mimic pre-Columbian architecture. Wright experimented extensively with textured concrete blocks and other means of evoking architecture found in other parts of the world. You may do the same as you design your exterior living space. Consider texture as a design element in horizontal and vertical surfaces, sun-resistant fabrics, lighting, tile work and more. Limit the kinds of texture you use and repeat textural elements to elicit a rich, inspiring place to lounge and gather.

Browse images of Frank Lloyd Wright’s homes and other architectural masterpieces to find more inspiration, or check out one of the many books written about Wright from your local library. To get started incorporating your ideas, take a seat outdoors where you will be creating a new, comfortable patio or other space and sketch out ideas, listing possibilities for repeating organic lines, colors and textures.

Finally, you can take note that Frank Lloyd Wright studied basic elements of design and was intimate with those basic principles that have informed great architecture for centuries. Then he set off on his own, pioneering a new frontier in home and building design. You too are limited only by your imagination, so have fun, experiment and watch what happens!

Petra Travesen began learning about design as a wayward art student decades ago. Years of decorating – everything from purchasing new decorative throw pillows that did wonders for an old livingroom set to redoing entire kitchens – has taught her a thing or two about what to do and what not to do (Scarlet paint for the laundry room? Maybe not.) These days, Petra is busy enjoying a little more down time writing and reading about all things design/architecture. Last month she found some fabulous custom made cushions for a new chaise lounge, beautiful earthy tones that complement her “wunder-garden” and couldn’t be more pleased.

To secure most items to a concrete, brick, or cinder-block wall, you will need to drill a hole and insert a wall fastener. Use lead anchors for most loads and expansion shields for exceptionally heavy ones. Use plastic anchors and fiber plugs for very light items.

To drill a hole in masonry, use a carbide-tipped bit on an electric drill, preferably a variable-speed model that will let you drill at a low speed. As you drill, move the bit in and out rather than pushing hard and continuously on it. If the drill begins to stall, release the trigger or you will burn out the motor.

Bear in mind to always wear safety goggles and work gloves when drilling into a masonry.

If your drill lacks the power to drive a big bit into solid concrete or brick, try drilling a small hold first, then a larger one. Or rent a half inch variable-speed drill.

On a cinder-block or a hollow-tile wall, another good fastener is a toggle bolt. Drill a hole for it with a carbide-tipped bit. Then install the fastener as you would on a hollow wall. Drill a test hole first to make sure the block’s hollow interior has enough space to accommodate the bolt’s wings.

You can attach boards that will carry light loads with either cut nails or masonry nails. Because these nails tend to split wood, first drill a hole in the board for each nail. Make it slightly smaller than the widest part of the nail. If a wall is very hard, drill holes for the nails in the wall too.

Cut nails and masonry nails can chip a claw hammer, causing flying metal particles. Always drive them in with a ball peen hammer or light sledgehammer.

Making concrete blocks is a solid business with great profits. Everything from big buildings to tiny backyard projects is built using cement blocks. They are used by the building trades everywhere. There is always a big demand for concrete blocks and they will not go out of style.

You can start a part time business, from your garage, making concrete blocks with hand molds. Plans and instructions for this are readily available. You make the molds yourself from plywood and sheet metal and simply fill them with the appropriate concrete mix. You then turn the blocks out of the molds and let them dry before selling them. One person can turn out 100 cement blocks in a good days work. A local supplier always finds a ready market at building supply stores. They welcome local producers who can supply them with their needs at a good price. With no transportation costs you can make a very good profit and still keep your prices very competitive.

Sooner or later the demand for your products will be more than you can handle using hand molds. At this point you may decide that your part time business is ready to become a full time living. You will want to manufacture concrete blocks in larger quantities. To accomplish this you will need a concrete block making machine. Concrete block making machines are available from several makers. Most of them are abroad and the machines are expensive. If you can afford it go ahead and buy one. They do a great job and will pay for the high cost with greatly increased production. However there is a better way– for a fraction of the cost you can build your own concrete block machine.

Building a concrete block making machine is actually not that difficult. Plans, with complete instructions, are readily available and will enable you to build a machine which will produce 800 concrete blocks per day. The machine is built from new or used auto parts, sheet metal and a few odds and ends. This machine made for a fraction of the cost of a commercial machine performs equally well. A small hand operated machine can also be built. This is capable of making 200 blocks per day and is easy to make and run. You can make any number needed of low cost concrete blocks. You will be able to fill bigger orders than you possibly could using only hand molds.

You will naturally want to produce other concrete products when you are in the concrete block business. You can make concrete garden ornaments, birdbaths, sundials, concrete garden furniture, patio slabs, window boxes, huge vases and concrete urns for the garden. There is a very strong demand for these items and they are very profitable to manufacture. Your small part time home business has by now become a full time, high profit, enterprise. Few jobs can make you the income possible from your business.

Want a great money making concrete block business? Want to make other concrete products also?Want to know how to make your own concrete block making machine at low cost? We have the plans and instructions for you. Go to http://www.concreteblockmaker.com
